Divorce

Under Oregon law either party may seek a divorce to end their marriage. Oregon is a “no fault” state. This means that either party may seek a divorce for any reason. The court will not make you explain your reasons. It is sufficient if either party simply says that they want a divorce.

The issues that must be decided in a divorce usually include child custody, parenting time, child support, spousal support (alimony), and dividing up property and debts.

Divorces can get very complex. If spouses own businesses, commercial or investment properties, or separate assets from a family trust, then experienced legal counsel will be needed to ensure a fair division and provide the necessary attention to detail so that future problems are avoided. Our attorneys have the depth and range of experience to navigate even the most complex divorce cases.

Divorce can be a very difficult process emotionally and financially for the entire family. We strive to reconcile the issues as amicably and efficiently as possible.
