Collaborative Divorce

Collaborative Divorce

Collaborative dispute resolution offers couples a method to resolve their divorce issues without litigation in order to avoid the uncertain and arbitrary outcomes that are inherent in the court system. In a collaborative case, the parties work with a team in a series of meetings to identify issues, brainstorm solutions, collect information, and reach agreements that meet the needs of the family rather than the needs of the court.

A collaborative divorce offers couples a team-based approach to maintain ownership and control over the process in order to focus on solutions that are best for the entire family and promote healthier relationships for the future.

The process entails a series of meetings in which each party is represented by an attorney, and other professionals on the Collaborative Team participate as appropriate for their particular expertise. Specific roles for professionals are family law attorney, divorce coach, financial specialist and child specialist. The team for a given case may be any combination of professionals the parties choose to include for their specific issues.

If you would like to explore collaborative divorce as an alternative to a traditional divorce, please contact one of our attorneys to see if this alternative form of resolution is right for you.
